The International Wheelchair Basketball Federation (IWBF) is delighted to announce that Toyota is the Official Mobility Partner of the 2026 IWBF Women’s Repechage Tournament, taking place in Madrid, Spain, from 8–11 June 2026.

Building on the successful collaboration with IWBF Europe at the 2025 IWBF European Championship Men Division C in Samokov, Bulgaria, Toyota will continue its support of wheelchair basketball with a dedicated focus on the women’s game in Europe this June and the Road to the 2026 IWBF World Championships.

As part of its commitment to “Mobility for All,” Toyota will support the competition through a range of event activations and athlete-focused initiatives, including official transport solutions and an Athlete Recovery Lounge designed to support player wellbeing throughout the tournament.

In preparation for the event, representatives from IWBF and the local organising committee, FEDDF, were recently welcomed to Toyota Spain’s headquarters in Madrid by representatives from Toyota Motor Europe and Toyota Spain for a dedicated planning meeting.

The IWBF Women’s Repechage Tournament represents the final opportunity for eight national teams to qualify for the 2026 IWBF World Championships later this year, with four teams securing their place in Ottawa. Teams from across the globe will compete for the remaining qualification spots at the biggest wheelchair basketball event in the world.

IWBF Secretary General, Gabriel Zangenfeind, welcomed Toyota’s involvement:

“We are very pleased to welcome Toyota as the Official Mobility Partner of the 2026 IWBF Women’s Repechage Tournament. Partnerships like this are incredibly important for the continued growth and development of wheelchair basketball worldwide. Toyota shares many of the same values as IWBF - inclusion, accessibility, innovation, and creating opportunities for athletes to perform at their best. Their support will help enhance the experience for teams and players as they compete for qualification to the 2026 World Championships, and we look forward to continuing to build this strong relationship together.”

Toyota’s continued investment highlights the growing visibility and impact of women’s wheelchair basketball, while reinforcing the shared values between both organisations of inclusion, innovation, and empowering athletes.
