Nottingham hosts final European qualifier
The final qualification event took place in Nottingham, England, where teams competed across the men’s and women’s competitions to secure their place in Glasgow.
In the men’s tournament, England delivered a dominant performance, going unbeaten across five games to finish top of the standings. Wales secured second place, followed by Northern Ireland, while Cyprus completed the field.
The women’s competition saw England once again lead the way with a perfect record, with Wales finishing second and Northern Ireland third.
Cyprus makes historic international debut

A special milestone of the European qualifier was the international debut of Cyprus in wheelchair basketball.
While results did not go their way on this occasion, their participation marks an important step in the continued growth and global reach of the sport. The presence of new and emerging nations highlights the accessibility and development potential of the 3x3 format, providing valuable international experience and opportunities for athletes and programmes at all levels.
Asia Oceania qualification decided in 2025
The first of the zonal qualifiers, the Asia Oceania qualifiers took place in November 2025, ahead of the full-court Asia Oceania Championships.
Australia topped the men’s standings with an unbeaten record, securing the Oceania qualification spot, while Malaysia claimed the Asia position with a strong second-place finish. New Zealand placed third, followed by India.
In the women’s competition, Australia and India - the only participating teams - each secured qualification, representing Oceania and Asia respectively.
Africa qualifiers completed in Angola

The African qualifiers were held in Angola ahead of the 2025 Africa Championships, with strong competition across both tournaments.
In the men’s competition, South Africa went unbeaten to secure qualification, with Nigeria finishing second, followed by Kenya and Gambia.
Canada Secure Americas Spot
The Americas qualification places (both men and women) have been awarded to Canada, who were the only nation to register for the zonal qualifier.
