On Thursday 9th November, IWBF alongside Germany’s Bundesliga club Köln 99ers were invited to be part of the FIBA Village, run by the FIBA Equipment & Venue Centre, at the FSB 2017.
The FIBA Equipment & Venue Centre were present for the 11th consecutive time at the International Trade Fair for Amenity Areas, Sports and Pool Facilities (FSB) which took place in Cologne from November 7-10.
FSB is the largest and most prestigious sports facilities show in the world. The FIBA Equipment & Venue Centre hosted a 'FIBA Village' centred around a basketball court and the 'Time out' Lounge.
The Köln 99ers, whose team includes international players from across the world, demonstrated the sport and also allowed the public to try their hand at the complicated task of handling the wheel and the ball simultaneously.

IWBF President Ulf Mehrens said, “To be invited to be part of the FIBA Village, was an important opportunity for IWBF and wheelchair basketball. It not only benefitted us by reinforcing our sport as part of the FIBA family, but it also allowed us to showcase and highlight our sport to FIBA partners and a wide network of sporting facilities and equipment providers.”
Eighteen of the FIBA Equipment & Venue Centre's Partners held stands within the 1,000-square meter 'FIBA Village' and many more had stands elsewhere in the trade fair. Within their booths, Partners showcased their approved equipment.
FIBA President Horacio Muratore said, "The FIBA Equipment & Venue Centre had another great edition at the 2017 FSB. It allowed us to assist our Partners by displaying their equipment within our FIBA Village. It was also a great opportunity to exchange with our Partners."
