The United States have been crowned champions of the 2025 IWBF Men’s Americas Cup in Bogotá, Colombia, following six days of high-level competition that brought together the top men’s wheelchair basketball nations from across the Americas.

Hosted at the Coliseo Cayetano Cañizares by the Federación Colombiana de Baloncesto en Silla de Ruedas, the championship featured Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Venezuela, and the United States competing for qualification to the 2026 IWBF Men’s World Championship in Ottawa, Canada.

USA secure gold

The United States reaffirmed their status as reigning Paralympic and World Champions with a commanding 73–49 victory over Argentina in the gold medal game. After a competitive opening quarter, the USA steadily extended their lead through disciplined defence and efficient scoring, ensuring a comfortable margin by the final buzzer.

Colombia claim bronze on home soil

The bronze medal match provided one of the tournament’s most dramatic encounters, as host nation Colombia edged out Canada 48–47. Roared on by their home supporters, Colombia delivered a resilient performance to secure their place on the podium and confirm direct qualification for the 2026 World Championship.

  • 1.0–1.5: Vincent Dallaire (#7) – Canada
  • 2.0–2.5: Maximiliano Ruggeri (#10) – Argentina
  • 3.0–3.5: Jhon Hernández (#19) – Colombia
  • 4.0–4.5: Salvador Sandoval (#5) – Mexico

The TISSOT Most Valuable Player (MVP) was awarded to Jake Williams (#2) of the United States.
