Shaun Norris named Allianz Athlete of the Month

Shaun Norris’ stellar performance led the Australian men’s wheelchair basketball team to the 2019 Asia-Oceania Championships title and have won him the votes to be crowned November’s Allianz Athlete of the Month.

The 34-year-old averaged 15.9 points per game, helping Australia also secure a spot at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.

Norris received 41 per cent of the public votes, as German sprinter Johannes Floors came in second with 28 per cent. Japanese track and field athlete Maya Nakanishi was third with 24 per cent, followed by Dutch wheelchair tennis player Diede de Groot and Brazilian sprinter Petrucio Ferreira.
