The official draw for the IWBF Repechages will take place on Saturday 21 March at 17:30 (local time) at the Patrick Baumann House of Basketball in Mies, Switzerland.

The draw will determine the group composition for the competition, with teams allocated into two groups of four in both the men’s and women’s tournaments. These groupings will define the matchups in the opening phase, as nations compete for the final qualification places.

Men’s Teams in the Draw

The following teams will be included in the men’s draw:

  • Brazil
  • Venezuela
  • Poland
  • Netherlands
  • Iran
  • Korea
  • Africa representative
  • Thailand

Women’s Teams in the Draw

The women’s competition will feature:

  • Colombia
  • Argentina
  • Australia
  • Thailand
  • Germany
  • France
  • Africa representative
  • Spain

Draw Principles

The draw will be conducted based on zonal rankings and zonal pairings, ensuring a balanced and competitive distribution of teams across the two groups. Teams will be drawn into Group A and Group B, each consisting of four teams.

In line with competition regulations, host nations will have the opportunity to select their group placement following the draw.

Men’s Draw – Pairings

The men’s pairings are as follows:

  • Pairing 1: Brazil / Venezuela
  • Pairing 2: Poland / Netherlands
  • Pairing 3: Iran / Korea
  • Pairing 4: Africa representative / Thailand

Women’s Draw – Pairings

The women’s pairings are:

  • Pairing 1: Colombia / Argentina
  • Pairing 2: Australia / Thailand
  • Pairing 3: Germany / France

Team Update

It has also been confirmed that Venezuela will replace Mexico in the men’s competition, following Mexico’s withdrawal.

The Repechage Tournaments represent the final opportunity for teams to secure qualification, with the draw marking a key milestone as the pathway to qualification becomes clearer.
