IWBF Europe has announced the composition for Euro League 2018 following a Competition Commission meeting in Vienna on 30th September and 1st October 2017.


55 of the 66 teams who registered to enter the competition have been allocated a place in the biggest inter-continental club competition across the world.


The preliminary rounds of the Champions League will take place between Thursday 1st February to Sunday 4th February in two locations, Germany and Spain, as clubs RSV Lahn-Dill (GER), BSR Amiab Albacete (ESP) and RSB Thuringia Bulls (GER) all host a round.


The top two teams from each round, then go through to the Quarter Finals of the Champions Cup which will be held from Friday 9th March to Sunday 11th March 2018. Current Champions Cup holder’s CD Illunion will host group A of the quarter-finals, and group B will be hosted by 2017 runners-up Unipol Sai Briantea84 Cantu.


The preliminary rounds of Euro League 1, 2 and 3 take place between Thursday 8th March to Sunday 11th March 2018.


BKIS “Neskiy Alyans” SPB GO OOO “VOI” (RUS) and Pilatus Dragons RCZS (SUI) are the host teams in the two groups in Euro League 1, whilst ASD Padova Milennium Basket ‘ONLUS’ (ITA) and Meylan Grenoble Handibasket (FRA) will each host a round in Euro League 2.


Euro League 3 is split into 3 groups which will be hosted by KKI VRBAS Banja Luka (BIH), Megas Alexandros ’94 (GRE), ASD S.Stefano Sport (ITA).


Following the preliminary rounds of Euro League, the finals will then take place from Thursday 26th April to Sunday 29th April 2018. Euro League 1 Final (also known as the André Vergauwen Cup) will be hosted by Bidaideak Bilbao BSR (ESP). Euro League 2 Final (also known as the Willi Brinkmann Cup) will be hosted by Sheffield Steelers (GBR), and Euro League 3 Final (also known as The Challenge Cup) will be hosted by Mideba Extremadura (ESP).


The Euro League competition finale will finish with the premier Champions Cup Final 4 which will be held from Friday 4th May to Sunday 6th May 2018 in Hamburg, Germany.
