The International Wheelchair Basketball Federation (IWBF) is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Mr. Khalid Al-Kaabawi, President of Iraq Wheelchair Basketball Federation and the first Vice President of Iraq’s National Paralympic Committee, on Sunday 31 October.

Mr Khalid Al-Kaabawi has been a long-time supporter of wheelchair basketball throughout Asia Oceania Zone, overseeing the development of Iraq’s national programme and their introduction to the international stage. It is with no doubt his presence in Iraq and the Zone will be sorely missed.
Our thoughts are with his loved ones and the Iraq wheelchair basketball community at this difficult time.
