In the Men's Pool B, Germany bounced back with a win against Algeria.
With shots not falling for Algeria, it was Germany who had earned the lead at the end of the first quarter: the team capitalising on their opportunities to move ahead by 22-14. A stunning second quarter by the German side saw them dominate the play at both ends to enter half time up 54-17.
Algeria settled into the game in the third quarter, but Germany maintained the pressure to secure a 77-33 advantage with just 10 minutes left on the clock. Utilising the momentum, the German team then pushed forwards to close out a 97-41 win.
Germany Head Coach Nicolai Zeltinger said: “We’re happy that we have our first win. We played way better, but there are still ways to improve and we obviously have to – tomorrow GB is waiting for us. It’s a nice big rivalry between GB and Germany and we always look forwards to those game, they’re usually very interesting and of a high level.”
Algeria Head Coach Lahcene Tagmi said: “The Germans have a very strong and experienced team. We are very happy to be here at the Paralympic Games representing Algeria and the African zone.”
