The schedule for the IWBF Americas Cup 2017 has been released. The Americas Cup, which acts as the qualifying tournament for the World Championships next year, will take place between the 23rd August – 30th August in Cali, Colombia.
The action will start on Wednesday 23rd August, with Costa Rica and Venezuela first on court in the men’s competition. Hosts Colombia take on Canada in their first game of the women’s tournament, whilst their male counterparts will take on Uruguay, both games will take place either side of the opening ceremony that evening.
The withdrawal of Peru women from the tournament, means that the women’s competition will now be played as a round robin, followed by the placing and medal games.
The men’s competition will see the groups play out over five days, then on to the quarter and semi-finals, culminating in the medal games on the final day Wednesday 30th August.
The top four men’s and women’s team will qualify for the World Championships taking place in Hamburg next year.
