The International Wheelchair Basketball Federation (IWBF) and Wheelchair Basketball Canada (WBC) today unveiled the full competition schedule for the Ottawa 2026 IWBF Wheelchair Basketball World Championships, with single-session tickets going on sale June 25.

Taking place Sept. 9–19, 2026, Ottawa 2026 will welcome 336 athletes representing 28 teams from around the world for 11 days of elite international competition. Fans can now plan their championship experience with the opportunity to watch Team Canada compete on home soil.

The championships open Sept. 9 with an exciting day of competition featuring both Canadian National Teams in action. The Canadian women's team will take on Spain at 4:15 p.m. EST, while the Canadian men's team will face Morocco at 7:30 p.m. EST in front of a home crowd at The Arena at TD Place. The United States men's team and the Netherlands women's team will arrive as defending world champions.

All games will be live streamed via @wheelchairbasketballcanada and @IWBF YouTube channels.

“The release of the competition schedule is an exciting milestone as we continue our countdown to Ottawa 2026. Fans can begin identifying the matchups they don't want to miss. We look forward to welcoming Canadians and visitors from around the world to experience the energy, skill and intensity of wheelchair basketball at its highest level.”

Group-stage competition will run from Sept. 9–14, with 16 men's teams competing across four groups and 12 women's teams competing across two groups. Canada’s men’s team is in Group D, playing against Morocco, Germany and Iran. Canada’s women’s team is in Group A, facing Brazil, China, Great Britain, Australia and Spain in the opening rounds. Teams will then advance to the knockout rounds beginning Sept. 15, with semifinal games scheduled for Sept. 17 and 18. The championships conclude Sept. 19 with the men's and women's medal games.

“The release of the schedule transforms the excitement of the Draw into a real plan for our teams, players, officials and fans as they begin their final preparations for Ottawa 2026. The pathway to a world title is now clear, and we are one step closer to welcoming the world's best wheelchair basketball athletes to Ottawa. These championships will celebrate excellence, inspire future generations and showcase our sport at its very best.”

The championships will take place at The Arena at TD Place and Carleton University. Single-session tickets go on sale June 25 and will provide access to individual games throughout the championships.

Fans are encouraged to purchase early to secure seats and experience the high-performance skill of wheelchair basketball.
