It was USA and France women who graced the floor in the Carioca Arena first in the wheelchair basketball competition.
A dominant performance from the United States team saw them lead the French team by 22 points at half time, although France fought hard they were unable to compete with the strength and power of the Americans.
However it was in the third quarter that the USA women’s team really turned the pressure on winning the quarter 29 – 10 and extending their lead to 41 pts, 72 -31.
Led by top scorers Rebecca Murray and Rose Hollermann, 36 points and 29 points respectively, the USA used the game to put a marker down for their ambitions in the tournament with the game finishing 93 -37.
