The game between France women and Algeria would decide which team would secure the final quarter final spot of Pool B, as the bottom two sides battled it out.

France came all out guns blazing and shot to a 12-0 lead which they then maintained throughout the next three quarters. Final quarter saw Algeria put up some tremendous fight and had their best quarter of the Paralympic Games so far losing it by only three points, 12-9. Final score 72-33.

The win ensure that France have qualified for the final of the Paralympic tournament quarterfinals to be held on Tuesday.

France captain Angelique Pichon said, “We were straight in the game and we took an early lead, which allowed us to make different changes and try different tactics. This match allowed us to prepare for the quarter final to see what was working or not.”

Algerian player, Halima Kedjoun, said: “We are not playing well as a team and in harmony with each other, everybody plays their own game as we only had a few months preparing together for the Games. We aren’t as well prepared as other teams however in the next tournament we will be and we will try and win a medal.

“I have really enjoyed this experience at a Paralympic Games and will take away what I have learnt from being here for the next one.”
