It was bronze for the Brazilian women’s team in the wheelchair basketball competition at the Lima 2019 Parapan American Games for the fourth consecutive time. Brazil defeated Argentina 69-44.
The Brazilians stormed ahead at the beginning of the first quarter rushing out to 10-2 lead catching Argentina sleeping, allowing them to hold an eight-point advantage at the end of the first. Brazil speed proved to be undoing of Argentina, as they extended their lead to 34-17 at the break.
The second half ran in the same vein as Brazil won both quarters comfortably, 16-11 and 19-16, earning them the bronze medal.

Debora Costa, Vileide Almeida, and Perla Assuncao top scored for Brazil, with 19, 16 and 10 points, respectively. For Argentina, María Pallares stood out once again, making 18 of Argentina’s 44 points, followed by captain Silvia Linari and Mariana Pérez, with 10 and 9 points each.
The bronze medal was a consolation for Brazil, who missed out on qualification for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games with only the top two teams earning places.
