FIBA Foundation has officially opened applications for its Propose a Project 2026 platform, inviting organisations around the world to submit initiatives that use basketball as a force for positive social change. The application window is open from 1 January to 1 March 2026.
For the wheelchair basketball community, this is a valuable opportunity to develop, grow, and strengthen projects that promote inclusion, accessibility, health, and social impact through our sport.
Basketball as a Tool for Good
Through Propose a Project, National Federations, clubs, and community organisations can apply for support to deliver Basketball For Good initiatives aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Following a record year in 2025 — with 332 applications received and 73 projects supported — the FIBA Foundation continues to expand its global impact by backing innovative and meaningful basketball-led projects.
Successful applicants may receive:
- Financial support
- Equipment
- Mentoring and expertise
- Access to the wider Basketball For Good global network
How to apply?
Applicants must select one of the five project categories when applying for support from the FIBA Foundation. Below, you’ll find an example story for each category.
Basketball For Health & Wellbeing
Harnessing the power of basketball to strengthen bodies, uplift minds, and nurture healthier, more resilient communities.
Basketball For Gender Equality
Using basketball to break barriers, empower girls and women, and champion equal opportunity and respect for all genders.
Basketball For Refugees and Displaced People
Leveraging basketball as a unifying force to restore hope, foster belonging, and support the integration of refugees and displaced communities.
Basketball For People with Disabilities
Celebrating ability through basketball by creating inclusive spaces that empower people with disabilities to thrive, participate, and lead.
Basketball For Climate Action
Turning the love of basketball into action for the planet by inspiring environmental awareness, responsibility, and sustainable change on and beyond the court.
