Argentina women’s team see will see the debut of two athletes at the Lima 2019 Parapan American Games.
18-year-old Dara Muñoz and 16-year-old Morena Yael Coria will make their first appearance at a major international when they represent Argentina on court in their opening game of the Lima 2019 Parapan Am Games against Mexico.
Talking about their debut, they both said:
“It gives us great pride to be able to represent our country and belong to this wonderful group that are the Argentina Wolves.
“Our aim playing here is to grow as athletes and be able to demonstrate in each game that we play our greatest technical exponent for the benefit of the team and to be able to achieve the classification for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.”
The debutants are the only changes to the squad that played at the 2018 World Championships in Hamburg, Germany finishing eleventh.
With only two spots available for qualification to Tokyo 2020, Argentina's Head Coach Carlos Cardarelli has clear thoughts on his team and their chances:
“Today I believe that our women’s national team is in full sports maturity and is in a position to compete equally with any team.
“Our main objectives at this time would be a first step to be able to classify between the two teams in the qualification phase and to achieve it after going game by game; in principle to achieve the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games classification and if not to obtain this objective, to fight for a medal in the dispute for 3rd place.”
