The city of Bogotá, Colombia, is set to welcome the top wheelchair basketball teams from across the Americas as it hosts both the 2025 IWBF Americas Cup, the premier zonal championships for the region.
Organised by the Federación Colombiana de Baloncesto en Silla de Ruedas, the women's and men's will run back-to-back tournaments and will not only crown regional champions but also serve as key qualifiers for the 2026 IWBF World Championships in Ottawa, Canada.

Women's Americas Cup – August 9–14, 2025
Eight national teams, Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Peru, Mexico, El Salvador, the United States, and Canada, will compete in the Women’s Americas Cup, which begins on Saturday 9 August 2025.
Canada, as host nation of the 2026 World Championships, has already secured its place, while the other teams will battle it out for two direct qualification spots, with two more earning entry into the Repechage Tournament in 2025.
This tournament is not only about world qualification, it also plays a vital role in the development and visibility of women’s wheelchair basketball across the continent, following a strong cycle of regional qualifiers held throughout 2024.

Men’s Americas Cup – August 15–20, 2025
The Men’s Americas Cup tips off on Friday 15 August, featuring eight teams: Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Puerto Rico, Mexico, the United States, Venezuela and Canada. With Canada also automatically qualified as host of the 2026 World Championships, the remaining teams will vie for three direct qualification spots, while two more will head to the Repechage Tournament.
The presence of the USA, reigning World and Paralympic Champions, alongside Canada and other top teams from the region, ensures a high level of play and fierce competition as each nation sets its sights on Ottawa 2026.
