Australia’s men retained their Commonwealth title, while England claimed women’s gold as the 3x3 wheelchair basketball competition came to an action-packed conclusion at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.
Eight men’s and eight women’s teams competed at SEC Hall 4, with six days of pool games, play-ins and knockout action deciding the two podiums.
Australia retain the men’s title
England and Scotland produced unbeaten runs to finish top of their respective men’s pools and advance directly to the semi-finals.
England opened with a close 16–13 victory over Australia before overcoming Canada 20–10 and Kenya 21–0 to top Pool A. Australia recovered to beat Kenya 21–5 and Canada 20–12, securing second place.
In Pool B, Scotland finished with three wins from three, defeating South Africa 15–9, Malaysia 18–6 and Wales 21–10. South Africa claimed second place following victories over Wales and Malaysia.
Australia and Canada progressed through the play-ins, defeating Wales 21–6 and South Africa 15–5 respectively.
Australia then overcame hosts Scotland 19–12 in the first semi-final, while England booked their place in the gold-medal game with an 18–13 victory over Canada.
Canada secured bronze with a 19–9 win over Scotland before Australia completed their title defence, defeating England 19–13 in the final to win a second consecutive Commonwealth gold medal.

England take women’s gold
England completed the women’s pool stage unbeaten, recording victories over Australia, Canada and South Africa to finish top of Pool A.
Scotland matched that record in Pool B, beating Nigeria 16–1, India 21–4 and Wales 16–2 to progress directly to the semi-finals.
Australia secured second place in Pool A after edging Canada 12–10 in overtime, while Wales finished second in Pool B following victories over India and Nigeria.
Canada and Australia advanced from the play-ins with 21–3 and 19–2 wins over Wales and Nigeria respectively.
In the semi-finals, England defeated defending champions Canada 18–10, while Scotland earned a place in the final on home soil with a 15–12 victory over Australia.
Australia responded in the bronze-medal game, holding off Canada to claim a 19–17 win and a place on the podium.
England completed their unbeaten campaign with an 18–10 victory over Scotland in the final, securing the women’s Commonwealth title as the hosts took silver.
