The 2020 IWBF Afro Paralympic Qualifiers All-Star Teams were announced during the closing ceremony of the championships in Johannesburg, South Africa.


The Women’s All-Star Team was made up of three South African’s and two Algerian’s.


South Africa forward Kelebogile Moeng was their highest points scorer for the tournament with 38 points and was nominated alongside her teammates Dineo Mosime and Duduzile Gwaza, and Algeria’s Samiha Addelali. Named Most Valuable Player was Algeria’s captain Djamila Khemgani, who led her team in style to secure their place at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games with a 5-0 clean sweep, scoring double digits in every game she played averaging 18.5 points per game.

The 2020 IWBF Afro Paralympic Qualifiers Women’s All-Star Team

Duduzile Gwaza (RSA, 2.5)
Djamila Khemgani (ALG, 4.0) - Most Valuable Player


All four teams were represented in the Men’s All-Star Team. Egypt’s Mohamed Abdelaziz and Morocco’s Zouhair Challat were both influential for their teams. Bilel Ayache selected from the winning team, Algeria, averaged 13 points a game. South African Richard Nortje averaged a double-double every game with 21 points and 11.6 rebounds. Finishing off the team was Morocco’s Rida Maataoui who was named as the Most Valuable Player of the tournament averaging a double-double every game with 24.2 points per game and 16.4 rebounds.
