The Aichi Nagoya 2026 Asian Para Games, officially the 5th Asian Para Games, will take place from 18–24 October 2026 in Nagoya, Aichi, Japan. As the continent’s flagship multi-sport event for athletes with disabilities, the Games will bring together thousands of athletes from across Asia to compete at the highest level.
Wheelchair basketball will once again one of the marquee sports, showcasing the speed, skill, and competitive strength of the region’s top national teams. The event serves as a key pathway in the Asian competition calendar.
Qualification for the wheelchair basketball competition at the 2026 Asian Para Games was determined through the 2025 IWBF Asia Oceania Championships, held in Bangkok in November 2025. Following nine days of intense competition, the top-performing nations secured their places for Aichi–Nagoya 2026. During the Closing Ceremony, the official Men’s Pool Draw was also conducted, confirming the groups for the tournament:
Pool A – Thailand, China, Kuwait, and Japan; and Pool B – Korea, Iran, Philippines, and Iraq.
On the women’s side, six nations earned qualification: China, Cambodia, Iran, Japan, Laos, and Thailand. With qualification complete and groups now set, teams can begin their final preparations for Asia’s premier para-sport event.
