    At the Parapan America Championships we are seeing some excellent matches in the closing days. We had two great and exciting Men's Quarter Final games - Argentina lost to Colombia 53-54 - it will be the first time that Colombia makes it to the semi-finals where they will play Canada. . . .

    Parapan American Games in Guadalajara Mexico have started with the first day off to a great start before sell out crowds of enthusiastic fans.

  • Day 6 - Summary

    The final day of preliminary round play at the Asia/Oceania World Championships has been completed. It was an interesting final day to the games, some close games and some victories that made the standings very close for many teams.  The Japanese Men, Chines Women and Australian Men's and Women's Teams have taken the two spots for Asia/Oceania in the London 2012 paralympics.

  • Day 5 Asia/Oceania Results - Summary

    The second half of our tournament has begun and we are getting closer to identifying our top teams. 

    We want to give a round of applause to the teams who are new to the tournament or returning after being away for some years.  We know you have been struggling, but still playing on. There is nothing as important as taking a hard lesson and learning from it, putting your head up and still moving forward. . .  best of luck in your final games

    We are half way through the third of our 4 Zone World Championship. We have had some competitive games and some games that newer teams will have to use as a learning experience. Which two teams do you think will be qualifying for London 2012?

  • Asia/Oceania Congress News

    The Asia Oceania Zone of IWBF held their Congress Sunday November 6 and among other things elected a new executive. With current President Yuichi Watanabe retiring it meant a new president would be elected.

  • African Congress 2011

    In addition to the African championship tournament in Rabat Morocco one other important thing that happened in Rabat was the Congress of IWBF Africa.

    The new Executive Council (2011-2015) was elected. Returning as President was Hamid El Aouni, (Morocco).

    The 2011 European Congress is being held September 16th, 2011, in Nazereth, Israel.

  • U25 Semi-Final Results

    The U25 Women's World Championship Final Games are now set. Thursday, July 21st at 19:00 EST the USA and Australia will play for the championship medal.

     

     

  • U25 Quarter Final Results

    The U25 Women's quarterfinal results are now in. If you attended the games or watched the live broadcasts you heard the sounds of excited crowds cheering on great competitors.

     

    During the final quarter-final game a contingent of team Mexico fans supported their players with enthusiasm to the end.

    The results from Peru and the II Andina Cup. 

     

    Uruguay  defeats Peru 47 - 37 to win the Andina Cup. 

     

  • II Andina Cup Peru Initial Results

    Immediate Release From Lima, Peru.

     

    Peru and Uruguay earn spots in South American Championships in Venezuela in November 2012

     

    Peru finsihed first at the end of the preliminary round at the II Andina Cup based on a 3 - 0 record. Uruguay (2 - 1) finished second with Chile (1 - 2) third and Bolivia (0 - 3) fourth).

    The Paralympics is only a few weeks a way but we are already preparing for the Zone Championships next Fall.

  • Nicaragua QT Tournament

    Nicaragua02IWBF Americas is holding a pre-qualification tournament in Managua, Nicaragua this week. This tournament will qualify one country to the Central America and Caribbean  Championship which will be held in Puerto Rico in October has five countries attending Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Honduras, Panama and Nicaragua.

    At the end of the third day of competition Nicaragua has 8 points based on 4 games played, Costa Rica has 7 points on 4 games, Panama has 6 points on 4 games, Dominican Republic has 5 points on 4 games, Honduras has 4 points based on 4 games. 

     

  • Qualifying for Paralympic Games Draws to a Close

    The qualifying process for next year’s Paralympic Wheelchair Basketball Tournaments for Men and Women recently came to a close.

    Over the past three months, some very exciting wheelchair basketball has been played and, at times, produced some unexpected results which serve as further proof of the game’s growth on a global scale.
